SCAM ALERT
Carroll County Citizens are being targeted by phone call, email and messaging scams threatening them with prosecution for failing to comply with jury service.
In these communications, recipients are pressured to provide confidential information which can potentially lead to identity fraud and theft. These scammers threaten recipients with fines and jail time if they do not comply. These are fraudulent communications and are in no way connected to the Carroll County Clerk of Court's Office, Alan J. Lee, the Carroll County Sheriff's Department or Sheriff Terry Langley.
The courts do not call prospective jurors and ask for money or personal identifying information over the telephone. If you receive such communication, do not provide any information OR payment of any kind to these scammers and immediately notify the Clerk of Court's office at boe.jury@gmail.com or (678) 390-6257.
Remember, jury duty is a vital civic responsibility and should be taken seriously by all citizens. It is a crime for anyone to falsely represent themself as a court official.
